A great product is built on more than clean code and comprehensive test cases. It also depends on Business Analyst (BA), Developer (Dev), Quality Control (QC), and other stakeholders understanding one another, working together, and aligning toward a shared goal. For Nguyen Hai Ninh – Senior Quality Control, Galaxy Joy, connection is not separate from product quality – it is an essential part of it. This approach earned him the Collaboration & Connection award at Galaxy Holdings’ 5th Anniversary Celebration.
“QC is not just about finding bugs. It’s about keeping the bigger picture together”
Over four years at Galaxy Joy, Hai Ninh has witnessed numerous products and features evolve from initial requirements into solutions delivered to end users.
At every stage, Quality Control (QC) operates at a unique intersection of perspectives. Business Analyst (BA) focuses on user experience and business requirements; Developer (Dev) considers technical feasibility and timelines; while Stakeholders expect the product to deliver value and reach the market at the right time. Each team brings its own perspective, priorities, and risks to manage.
For Ninh, the challenge of QC therefore goes beyond the number of bugs detected or the complexity of a test case. Working across different viewpoints, QC serves as a bridge that keeps everyone aligned on the bigger picture.

This perspective has led Ninh to take on a role that extends beyond testing a product at the end of the development process.
A mind map that brought different perspectives together
Ninh still remembers how his team overcame a major bottleneck in a project involving Vietjet discount codes for cash payments. The challenge arose when BA wanted to expand business scenarios to optimize the campaign, while Dev firmly pushed back due to concerns about API congestion and potential impacts on system architecture.
Recognizing that the issue was not a coding defect but a misalignment of perspectives, Ninh knew that passively waiting for a perfect specification before writing test cases would put the timeline at risk. Instead, he proactively addressed the bottleneck by developing a test plan, using a visual mind map to map out affected flows, and identifying potential risks.
With a shared overview in place, he worked with BA to refine the most practical campaign scenarios, while collaborating with Dev to identify areas requiring asynchronous processing and optimize risk management. Regular daily meetings kept everyone informed and ensured transparency. As a result, the teams quickly reached common ground: the specification met business needs while maintaining system stability.
This collaborative mindset extends beyond cross-functional teamwork.
Within the QC team, Ninh is also recognized as a mentor to new team members. One notable achievement was reducing the onboarding process to just one week through a structured approach that puts the new hire’s experience at the center.
From day one, rather than overwhelming newcomers with documents and procedures, he takes time to understand their working styles, strengths, expectations, and any concerns they may have.
Based on these insights, he developed a structured 5-day checklist covering domain and workplace familiarization, hands-on practice with existing test suites, shadowing sessions with a mentor, and finally, writing test cases and conducting tests on a small, real-world task.

From “I do, You look” to “You do, I look”
He describes the method simply: “Buddy & Shadowing: I do, you look. You do, I look.”
New team members first observe how their mentor analyzes problems, then put their learning into practice and receive feedback along the way. At the end of each day, 15 minutes are set aside for questions and discussion. This helps break down hierarchical barriers and foster mutual respect and trust.

The key is to create a safe environment where newcomers feel confident enough to ask questions, experiment, and take initiative.
Differences are not barriers to collaboration
Working across different disciplines inevitably brings differing perspectives. Rather than trying to eliminate these differences, Ninh brings everyone back to a common benchmark: the value delivered to customers and the product.
Instead of asking, “Who is right and who is wrong?” he reframes the discussion: “Which solution delivers the best product for users with the resources available?”
When the shared goal takes center stage, differences in expertise become complementary strengths. BA identifies business risks. DEV identifies technical risks. QC identifies quality risks. Understanding the concerns behind each perspective makes it easier for teams to find common ground.
To ensure discussions go beyond personal opinions, Ninh prioritizes data-driven communication, using flow diagrams, real-world data, and specific scenarios to make issues clearer and more actionable.
Three seemingly simple principles – aligning on product value, listening to understand one another’s risks, and communicating through data – have become the foundation of his day-to-day approach to collaboration.
“Work hard, play hard!”
Four years at Galaxy Joy have been shaped by more than projects, test cases, or challenging problems solved alongside teammates. They have also been defined by relationships built through mutual support, candid conversations, and memorable moments shared beyond work.
For Ninh, Collaboration & Connection is more than an award presented on stage. It reflects the way he chooses to work with the Galaxy Joy team: proactively building connections, listening with an open mind, and working together to find the best solutions for the product.
The greatest value a QC professional brings is not measured solely by the number of bugs found, but also by the connections they build. When trust is established, barriers between people gradually come down, making room for greater initiative and a stronger team spirit.

From his recognition for Collaboration & Connection, Galaxy Holdings wishes Nguyen Hai Ninh continued success in upholding this spirit, inspiring stronger connections, and working alongside his Galaxy Joy teammates to deliver more quality products and create new value in the journey ahead.
