Position Objective:
The Chief Data Officer (CDO) is responsible for defining and executing the organization’s enterprise-wide data strategy to transform data into a strategic business asset. The CDO will lead data governance, data quality, analytics, regulatory compliance, and enterprise data platform initiatives to enable data-driven decision-making, operational excellence, innovation, and sustainable business growth.
Reporting directly to the CEO and working closely with business leaders, technology teams, and compliance stakeholders, the CDO will establish a scalable and secure data ecosystem across the organization.
Key Responsibilities:
- Enterprise Data Strategy
- Define and execute the enterprise data vision, strategy, and roadmap aligned with corporate objectives.
- Establish data as a strategic asset to support business growth, digital transformation, and operational efficiency.
- Develop enterprise-wide data policies, standards, and frameworks.
- Partner with business leaders to identify opportunities for leveraging data to improve customer experience, revenue growth, and business performance.
- Build a data-driven culture across all business units.
- Enterprise Data Architecture & Data Systems
- Design and oversee the enterprise data architecture, ensuring scalability, security, and interoperability across systems.
- Lead the development of enterprise data platforms, data warehouses, data lakes, and master data management solutions.
- Establish a unified data ecosystem integrating internal and external data sources.
- Define technology standards and best practices for data management and analytics.
- Data Governance & Quality
- Establish and chair the Enterprise Data Governance Council.
- Develop data ownership, stewardship, and accountability models.
- Define and monitor data quality standards, KPIs, and controls.
- Ensure consistency, accuracy, completeness, and reliability of enterprise data.
- Implement data lifecycle management practices and governance frameworks.
- Data Platform, Analytics & AI
- Lead enterprise analytics, business intelligence, and advanced analytics initiatives.
- Develop self-service reporting and data visualization capabilities for business stakeholders.
- Drive predictive analytics, machine learning, and AI adoption where applicable.
- Build data products and insights that support strategic decision-making.
- Establish enterprise KPI frameworks and performance dashboards.
- Regulatory Reporting & Data Compliance
- Ensure compliance with data privacy, security, and regulatory requirements.
- Oversee regulatory reporting accuracy and data integrity.
- Collaborate with Risk, Compliance, Internal Audit, and Legal teams on data-related controls and governance.
- Develop policies and procedures to meet industry regulations and corporate standards.
- Manage data retention, data protection, and audit readiness requirements.
- Leadership & Stakeholder Management
- Build and lead high-performing teams across Data Governance, Data Engineering, Analytics, Data Science, and Data Operations.
- Act as a trusted advisor to the Executive Leadership Team on data strategy and business insights.
- Manage vendor relationships and external data partnerships.
- Drive change management and enterprise-wide adoption of data initiatives.
Job Requirements:
- MBA/ Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Science, Information Management, Analytics, or related field). PhD is preferred.
- Minimum 12–15 years of progressive experience in Data Management, Data Engineering, Analytics, Business Intelligence, Data Governance, or related fields.
- At least 5 years of experience in executive or senior leadership roles overseeing enterprise-wide data strategy and transformation initiatives.
- Proven track record in designing and implementing enterprise data strategies, governance frameworks, and large-scale data platforms.
- Strong experience in building and leading high-performing teams across Data Governance, Data Engineering, Analytics, Data Science, and Data Operations.
- Demonstrated success in driving data-driven transformation, advanced analytics, AI adoption, and business value creation through data.
- Deep understanding of data privacy regulations, data security, regulatory reporting, and compliance requirements.
- Experience in Financial Services, Fintech, Banking, Insurance, Telecommunications, Retail, Loyalty Platforms, or Digital Ecosystems is strongly preferred.
- Excellent executive communication, stakeholder management, and cross-functional leadership capabilities.
